Smart, articulate, acing her studies and one of the top students in the level. Yet Olivia remains unpopular and clearly unhappy aboutsomething in her life. She is rude, angry and often lashes out at people aroundher for no reason. As a result, she hardly has any friends which only serves toincrease her appetite for more anger and violent behavior.
The story of Olivia is not uncommon as I have witness manystudents like her in my school. I’ve always had a negative opinion of peoplelike that and I avoid befriending them not just to keep myself safe but alsobecause deep down inside, I don’t think very well of them. Sometimes we fail tounderstand people with ‘strange’ behavior as they do not seem to have reason tobehave the way they do. We label them as spoilt brads, having a bad familyupbringing or having a personality flaw. The story of Olivia changed my viewsabout people like her. However, reading the story about Olivia and learningabout the real reason behind her behavior helped me to change my mindset anddevelop compassion for people struggling with issues.
