Self-care doesn’t mean don’t care. Everyone needs some ‘me time’, to get away from the bad news, cares of the world and the never ending stressful demands placed on us. It’s about refilling and recharging our mental energy so that we can be ready to go again.
There’s no better way for a quick escape then to dance.
BTS released this song with exactly that same intention. In a recent interview they said that they chose ‘Permission to dance’ because this is a happy summer song as there is just too much gloom around.
Exercising is great for physical fitness, mental well-being and calming your emotions. Research has shown that even light exercise can both increase the neurotransmitters in your brain that can help to moderate your moods, relieve stress and improve learning and memory. In Korea, unfortunately, ‘Permission to dance’ has been banned in all the gyms as the authorities fear that vigorous exercise might cause the heart rate to increase too fast. So easy does it, if you feel that you are not at the peak of health or have just gone for your Covid jab.
More importantly, we just love Suga’s views of the song. He felt that this is a song about hope, especially with reference to the lyric ‘Cos when we fall, we know how to land’ He felt that it is a matter of how you view a situation. If you choose to focus on landing instead of falling, then you know you will take off again.
He said: “No matter how desperate the situation is, if we choose landing instead of falling, choose not to give up and just land, we’re ready to fly again”.
Don’t you just love the better shade of life that Suga has about difficulties?
So go ahead, find your own little space to dance.
