Don’t want to get into the details of my story because we all have different unique circumstances that boggle and intimidate us. However, I believe there are some common themes that we may find solace in and unite together.
– There are bad days and awesome days! Some days you just feel really discouraged and don’t want to get out of bed, you cant really explain why but it’s just the feeling. If you are lucky, a tub of ice cream might help, but not always. However, what gets me going is the knowledge that something good will happen soon and I got to stick around to see that happen. No days repeat themselves and there is something to look forward to. It could be something small like a meal with a friend or something big like a movie coming out!
– There might be people who don’t understand you and it feels like they are constantly judging or getting in your way. Just remember it is your journey and you decide how fast or how slow you want to go. Put your foot down over your own life and don’t feel compelled to listen to one person and have them control your recovery.
– Trust and believe in yourself. The biggest enemy will be that voice inside your head, and we got to learn how to turn that voice down sometimes. Focus on the good progress and the learning experiences and accept that you are human and make mistakes.
