A successful runway model and then the most recent health scare when she was rushed to the hospital because of a blood clot in her brain, Hailey Beiber has had her fair share of ups and downs in life.
Her marriage to Justin Beiber and all the attention, both good and bad that came with it, has made her more aware of the need to mind her mental well-being.
“What has been very texting on my mental health is social media, a struggles with people pleasing and wanting everybody to like me, caring about what people have to say, the negativity and comments”. However, she also appreciates social media and its ability to connect people.
“Comparing myself to other people, getting compared to other people, feeling like I need to have this type of body in order to feel good about myself.”
“It can be such a dark hole that you go down, and it happens so quickly and easily. With social media, you click on one thing, and you see another, and then you’re in this weird rabbit hole, and you’re putting yourself down.”
“I’m in the space where I am trying to have the healthiest relationship with social media”
Therapy
Therapy was something that Hailey was not sure of but overtime as she developed her relationship with her therapist and she found it to be her safe space. Being able to say what is in her mind without being judged.
“I’m someone who when I’m having a hard time, has problems admitting that I have a hard time. I’m learning to be open and vulnerable instead of trying to have it together all the time.”
What does Hailey do to check-in with herself?
-Talk to someone you trust
– Spend time outside in nature
– Breathing exercises helps when I am feeling a lot of anxiety
– Therapy is something that helps me to feel more calm and at ease.
