Kendal Jenner is a big advocate of mental health confessing that she has struggled with anxiety for years. You would imagine that someone like her with everything that a girl could ever want would be carefree and spilling over with self-confidence, but mental disorder spares no one. “I have struggled with anxiety for years and it can have good and bad days. I’ve had times where I feel like I need to be rushed to the hospital. Because I think that my heart is failing and I can’t breathe and I need, like, someone to help me. Sometimes I think I’m dying. Sometimes parts of my body will go numb. And it can be really intense and scary.”
To manage her anxiety, Jenner has found some coping skills that has worked for her:
Meditation
“If I need to wind down, I really make a point to take 15 minutes to meditate to settle my anxiety so I can get a good night’s rest.”
Reading
“I was having a panic attack two nights ago, and I was just like, ‘Oh, but you know what? I’m just going to pick up this book and try to forget.”
Writing a journal
She writes in her journal once or twice a week to manage those anxiety, panic attacks and depression. “It’s important to have a space that’s just for you where you can let out your happiness…your anger, frustrations, and stress, the things that are freaking you out, the things that are making you happy and even just ideas.”
