Have you heard of “Boys Planet”? It’s a K-pop survival series that introduces more than 90 idol trainees to compete for an opportunity to debut in a boy group.
While expectations of the participants were high, ZEROBASEONE (shortened as ZB1) emerged as the victors of “Boys Planet”. They shared some valuable advice on how to navigate expectations in a competitive world.
“No flower blooms without struggle”
Receiving all this success and attention within such a short amount of time, especially at such a young age, might seem intimidating. But, ZB1 shared that they use the high energy and lessons learned as part of their motivators and driving factors to pursue their dreams.
While some level of stress may be a good push, ZB1 shared that they focused on developing their own personal charms and good habits. During this process, they learned and understood more about themselves, and were able to cultivate empathy and understand others in return.
“We still have a long way to go, but I think we are in the process of really understanding each other and accepting each other’s differences“, Hanbin shared with Teen Vogue.
“The flower that was once withered came back to bloom”
ZB1 teaches us it is okay to not always have it all put together. In fact, failing and getting back up again teaches us far more valuable lessons about resilience, humility, and perseverance than always being at the top.
We may feel like ZB1 where we are trying to do our best to reach success. However, lessons learned during failure, stress, or hard times are also equally valuable in learning more about ourselves and helping us develop a growth mindset.
