Seventeen, on being a ‘Maestro’ in navigating out of limiting beliefs

What happens when we feel like we aren't deserving of our success?

With almost 10 years in the Kpop scene, Seventeen knows that it means to be a Maestro, especially with navigating self-doubt and limiting beliefs.

Inspiration is everywhere

Sometimes, we may feel like we have hit our peaks especially when we had hit a goals previously.

You may think: I have already managed to achieve so much before, how can I top that again?!

Well, the boys of Seventeen shared in an interview with The Rolling Stone that the past is meant to be a source of inspiration and growth, instead of a hindrance.

“The past is not just left behind, but rather a source of inspiration”

However, we may experience imposter syndrome, where we feel anxious about our abilities. What if we are really incompetent and we get unmasked at the worst time possible!

Leaning on those around you

One way we could ease the feeling of imposter syndrome is to tell ourselves our own “facts”.

What facts support that you deserve to be in your role? What are your strengths, past achievements and current resources?

I found that I struggled to believe my own “facts”, like the diligence and focus I put in to achieve success to meet my goals, or the fact that I am naturally gifted at something I excel at.

I realised that sharing my impostor feelings with others not only reduce loneliness but also open doors for others to share what they see in me.

“We pulled from previous lead tracks, and it’s a song that fits with us really well right now. It’s a song that captures the essence of SEVENTEEN as we are now.”

Just like the relationship that S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The 8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino have with each other, I found that positive self-talk can really help towards my growth.

And so, I started to develop self-love through positive self-reflection and the help from those around me.

Perhaps, that’s the meaning of Maestro: Finding inspiration, and a little self love with what and who you have in front of you!
